At Wonder Kids Lower Hutt, we take pride in being a multicultural centre. We value the unique contribution that each child, teacher and whanau bring into our learning environment. We cater for up to 15 Children from 0-2 years old and 37 Children from 2-5 years old. We provide an educational programme that is based on your child’s physical and emotional needs as well as their individual strengths and interests. At Wonder Kids, we cherish the unique contributions of each child, teacher, and whānau, creating a nurturing and enriching learning environment for all.
We are located on the main road in Taita, close to both Wingate and Taita train stations. Additionally, we offer van services to make transportation easier for families.
At Wonder Kids, we believe in fostering an environment where respect, empowerment, and wonder are at the core of our philosophy.
Respect:
● We acknowledge and celebrate different cultures, whakapapa, and whānau dynamics, ensuring these are reflected within our centre.
● We build responsive and reciprocal relationships with tamariki, whānau, and the teaching team.
● We are fully present when engaging with others, modeling respect for our centre environment and resources.
● We collaborate with whānau, using their aspirations to inform our curriculum and planning.
● We acknowledge Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a living document and incorporate Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori into our daily practice.
Empowerment:
● We view play experiences as rich learning opportunities.
● We encourage tamariki to set achievable goals, celebrate their success, and reach their full potential.
● We embrace AKO, where kaiako and tamariki learn from and with each other.
● We offer opportunities for tamariki to be independent.
● We see children as confident and competent learners.
● We encourage tamariki to be kaitiaki of the natural environment through learning and playing in our extensive outdoor space.
Wonder:
● We provide tamariki with the resources, space, and time to explore and be curious.
● We set up environments that encourage a child’s sense of wonder.
● We see the world through a child’s eyes and share in their natural joy of life.
● We allow tamariki to develop their own working theories and explore possibilities and discoveries with them.
● We celebrate important events in the lives of whānau.
● We create partnerships with whānau, encouraging them to share moments of wonder and joy they have with their tamariki at home.
